This is one of a number of stunning Irish calcite specimens we have recently added to our collection. On this piece the crystals are equant to tabular and have a milky translucency. The largest crystal measures 19mm on edge. One crystal is missing and there are a couple of dings but still a super Irish calcite
There are 2 small areas of saddle-shaped, cream coloured dolomite
The matrix consists of mixed sulphides including sub-millimetre sized gemmy yellow sphalerite.
A truly remarkable Irish specimen that would compliment any calcite collection. It was found in June 2003
